Spotlight On William Thompson


William Thompson was born June 28th, 1943, the third of four boys, at  Evangelical Deaconess Hospital in Bushwick, Brooklyn and was raised in Middle Village, Queens. At age thirteen, in the summer of 1956, at Word of Life Camp, Schroon Lake, NY, Bill first believed the promise of the Lord Jesus in John 5:24, He was assured that he had eternal life as a gift and that the Bible was entirely true. After graduating college with a Bio Chemical degree in 1964, he attended Columbia Bible College in SC (1965), Philadelphia College of Bible (1966 -1967), and Dallas Theological Seminary (1967 - 1971), where he received his Master’s in Theology.

Once he graduated, Bill began working for UPS (1971-1991). He taught evening classes at The King’s College (1970’s) and weekend classes at Berean Missionary Baptist Bible School (1990’s). Later he became the administrator of Bible Baptist Academy (2001-2002). Since 2009, Bill has been teaching evening and weekend classes at Calvary Baptist Church’s New York School of the Bible; he has attended Cambria Heights Gospel Chapel since 2009, where he teaches Sunday School. 

Bill married his wife Joanne, with whom he had two children, Lois and Michael. Sadly Joanne lost her battle with cancer in 2008.
